The Cubital Fossa , anterior view of the elbow joint




The Cubital Fossa


    Is a traingular depression on the anterior aspect of the elbow , filled with a variable amount of fat .

It has three boundaries ( superiorly , medially , laterally )



 

Boundaries of the cubital fossa :

1- Superiorly ( the base )
is formed by an imaginary line connecting between medial and lateral epicondyle of humerus .

2- Medially

is formed by a mass of flexor muscles lf the forearm , most superficially is the pronator teres muscle .

3- Laterally
is formed by a mass of extensor muscles of the forearm , most superficially is the brachioradialis muscle .

The floor of the fossa is formed by brachialis muscle medially , and supinator muscle of arm and forearm .

The roof of the  cubital fossa is formed by deep fascia , bicipital aponeurosis , and the skin .

 


Contents of the Cubital fossa :

From  the medial to the lateral side .

  •     The median nerve .
  •     Terminal part of brachial artery ( the ulnar and radial arteries ) .
  •     The tendon of biceps muscle .
  •     The radial nerve .
